Finally Out Again

The temps are finally back up again and I was able to get out of work a bit early today and get out for a ride. Everything was pretty wet from all the melting snow from this weekend so I decided to head out on my normal road loop on the mountain bike. Today would have been a great day for the road bike but it is sitting in a box in the basement waiting to be shipped to it's new owner. To be honest I didn't really care what bike I was out on the only thing I cared about was that I was out on a bike and riding.

As I got out onto the ride I felt pretty stiff and could tell that it has been some time since I've done a hard ride but after my legs warmed up a bit I started to feel pretty good. I did have some pain in my sides which I also can chalk up to lack of saddle time. Having the side pain reminds me that I got to stop skipping my core workouts. Like I said I did feel pretty good today and was really able to lay out a decent amount of power and my average heart rate was higher than it has been on some of the rides that I've been on. After I finished my normal loop I turned off into pioneers park to do a couple of laps and get a little bit more time in.

As for racing I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I really wanted to do this race but we are kind of running a bit low of funding in the house lately. We have had to pay out some huge bills for my wife's surgery that she has to have in a few weeks. Obviously that is a priority but it seems like we just keep getting hit with stuff for it over and over. I am a little pissed about it since we have to pre-pay the Dr's for the surgery and our balance at the Dr's office has to also be at zero. I can't quite figure it out. I've never had to pre-pay for medical procedures before. My have has been going to this Dr. for 3 years now and we have always paid our bill quickly. On top of the medical expenses is that I'm supposed to be getting overload pay from the college cause I'm teaching a couple of extra classes that put me over my required time. Essentially it's my overtime. The problem is that we were planning on getting it now but they just changed the policies at the school and we have to wait until the next term to get our pay to make sure we have enough contact hours then. It's kind of screwed up. My biggest bitch about it is that I have overload every term and then all of the sudden I have to wait for it with out much notice.

So what I'm really getting at is with all this going on expenses like race fees, 5 hour round trip drives, race nutrition and all the other things that go into a six hour endurance race goes by the wayside. Heck I'm not even sure if I'm going to be able to get my race license for about a month or so. I think the component for the Felt are also going to be put on hold since I'm going to be spending the cash from the sale of the Portofino to pay the Dr.

Sorry for bitching and whining about my issues. I know there are bigger problems out there than this and some people have it a lot worse. Here's a pic from today's ride. Since I don't have my team gear back yet it was a good opportunity to wear my new Twin Six Wool Jersey.

100% Super Awesome (the jersey not me)

No kit for me since I got all the BP Team stuff. I worked out some other stuff with T6
