Miles Road Style

Tonight was a quick 20 mile road ride. I didn't want to push it to much due to the race this weekend so I decided not to do my usual laps in the park when out on the road bike. I was contemplating taking out my mountain bike again but I always have that close to race fear of having some freak thing occur and having something break and have to fix it last minute. Last year a couple days before a race I was out on the singletrack of wilderness park and hit a stump with my pedal and I was going fast enough that when I hit it I bent my crank and couldn't keep the the chain on the big ring. It was some last minute rushing to get a new crank on and ready to go. So I'm not going out on my mountain bike again this week.

I did take a quick lap through pioneers park cause I heard Ryan and Rob were going to be there and I wanted to check out Ryan's new ride. Ran into Ryan checked out the stumpjumper. It's a cool new bike. I'm sure he's enjoying it. When I was in the park there was some roadies doing laps in there and I thought about seeing if I could join them for some but I decided it wasn't probably the best idea. I'm not sure how long I could have kept up and I probably would have pushed it way harder than I want to this close to a race.

Know I got to go make lunch for tomorrow. Carb loading begins for the race so it will be a bit more than usual. Tomorrow is also a rest day since I have to work at the links in the pm which means it's going to be a long day but I got to earn the extra cash to pay for the new bikes. Yes that's bikes plural now. If I can swing it I'm going to get both the Marin Indian Fire Trail and if still available I don't think I will be able to pass up the sweet deal on the Marin full suspension 07 rift zone. Know I just got to figure out how to convince my wife that I don't need(yes in my mind it's need) one bike but 2. Maybe I can work the angle that I won't need any more bikes for a while. But then again I hear that Marin is putting out a Cross Bike in 09 ;). Later.

When are you planning to get the new bike(s)? I don't want to seem like a pusher, but I have heard that 29ers are a perfect compliment to full suspension 26ers. Especially pink ones.

Dang! 2 bikes? I must be doing something wrong in this life...

I'm not sure what's wrong with me, but I really don't want to have more than one bike. There are already 6 of them in my garage and I think that is a lot. More to the point, I can't find enough time to ride the one I have, not sure how I could justify getting a second let alone a third and fourth.

Sorry I missed out on the fun at Pioneers. I got stuck at home with the kids since my wife is out of town on business.

I wouldn't mind a cheap road bike for training.

Dangerous, dangerous, dangerous, harp.

Hook up with the roadies and you'll never come back.
