Yesterday as I sat and watched it rain off and on all day I just kept thinking to myself "it's gonna be a while before I ride in the dirt again". Today though we had a beautiful day with warm temps in the high 50's, sun and some dirt drying (for once I like) wind.
When I got home I noticed that my front yard was dry and when I looked in the backyard all the paths that the dogs have worn in the yard were also dry. And I started having these thoughts that maybe just maybe Wilderness Park will be ridable. I kept telling myself no its not and just go ride the road bike but when it came time to ride I was getting the mtb out and heading towards Wilderness.
When I got there it was in perfect shape. I couldn't have been more surprised or happy. So I dove into the park and had went about my normal loop. I didn't really push the pace to much. I was really focusing on trying to figure out a pace that I think I can sustain for 6+ hours since I got a 6 hour race next Saturday. I did find though that my time was still good and I was rolling pretty well until I heard the air going out of my rear tire. My wheel slid out from under me on a tight turn and I almost went down. When my tire slid I heard it make this popping sound and from the look of it it was a pinch flat. Hopefully sometime this season or early next I will be getting a new wheelset and going tubeless.
Tomorrow I'm hoping for more time in the woods. Maybe an early morning trip with Ryan before going to work at the shop or maybe I'll hit it up after work. I'm trying to figure out a time to get down to Branched Oak to ride but with the holiday this weekend I not to sure it's going to happen. Later.
